L.W. Stolz Memorials, Inc. was originally started by Otto Emil Stolz, in 1895. It was called La Grange Marble works and later O.E. Stolz Marble Works, until he died. O.E. Stolz also started the premier granite quarries at Llano, Texas, in the early 1920's. O.E. Stolz died in 1935 at which time his son, Lorenz William Stolz, changed the name of the company to L.W. Stolz Memorials. L.W. Stolz died in 1957, after which time L.W. Stolz, Jr., the present owner, changed the name to L.W. Stolz Memorials, Inc.

After serving in World War I, L.W. Stolz moved to Beaumont, Texas and started a monument manufacturing plant at 1085 Magnolia Street. He sold many mausoleums and large monuments for prominent families in Beaumont, Orange and surrounding areas. During that time, L.W. Stolz furnished the Dick Dowling Memorial at Sabine Pass, Texas. L.W. Stolz moved back to La Grange in 1929. The Beaumont office was closed in about 1965 after L.W. Stolz died.

In 1957, when L.W. Stolz died, L.W. Stolz Memorials manufactured all the monuments, markers, and mausoleums it sold. There were two granite cutters, one marble cutter, polisher, profile machine operator, sandblaster, a layout man, and a gang saw that ran until 1970. All monuments, markers, and mausoleums were set with its own personnel. Today, all granite and marble pieces are ordered cut and delivered to La Grange. The pieces are lettered, carved and set by the present personnel in the State of Texas. Individually designed monuments are a specialty of the company by L.W. Stolz, Jr.
