item2MBSW‘s 64th Annual Convention and Trade Show is to be held June 19 – 21, 2008 at the HILTON / Houston, NASA, Clear Lake, 3000 NASA Parkway. The hotel is located right across the street from NASA right on the bay in Clear Lake, Texas which is a suburb south of Houston and just north of Galveston. It’s a great location for some rest and relaxation. We will be going to the Kemah Boardwalk on Friday night for some fun time with food, frolic and fireworks.

The speakers at this years convention will cover a number of topics. First, Ed Anderson (Boadie L. Anderson Quarries, Inc., Ada, Oklahoma) talk “It’s Your Business, Know All You Can About It – Monuments 101” will tell you everything from figuring stone, square footage, to the best buys for your bucks with a question and answer session where you can ask anything concerning granite to the “granite man”. Second, Scott Giddings, CM (GM Wholesale, Ltd., Waco Texas) will talk about “The Art of Laser” Talking about the history of Laser etchings, the laser terminology, limitations with granite color and picture quality and how to clean and re-whiten laser etchings. Our Keynote speaker is MBNA Past President, Paul DiMatteo (Maine Memorial, Portland, Maine) will lead a mini seminar in the “Monumental Art of Marketing” will cover a range of important topics that can only make your business better. He will ask us questions like, What do we sell? – What is your Niche? – Who wants to make a sale? - How to understand someone from Maine? - And take us from merchandising to television advertising along with personal relations. Then on Saturday he will tell us, speaking from personal experience, how to handle a visit from OSHA. He will give tips on how to get your shop ready and save you money and keep you from having to pay penalities.
